The Biden administration tapped Daniel Maffei to lead the Federal Maritime Commission, the agency announced recently.
Maffei, a commissioner on the FMC, now will move to the role of chairman, succeeding Michael Khouri.
Maffei served as a member of the U.S. Congress. Most recently, he was a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Commerce.
In a statement March 30, the new chairman said, “I am grateful and humbled by the confidence President [Joe] Biden has placed in me by appointing me chairman at such a critical time for our nation’s supply chain.”
