NFI Industries will deploy 50 Class 8 battery-electric trucks (BETs) in Southern California, the for-hire truckload carrier said.
Camden, N.J.-based NFI plans to deploy and operate 30 Freightliner eCascadias and 20 Volvo VNR Electric trucks from its Ontario, Calif., warehouse as part of the company’s port drayage services, it said.
The fleet expansion is part of the Joint Electric Truck Scaling Initiative project backed by the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission.
