The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) recently announced its selection for the preferred redesign concept for the Connecticut Avenue NW project.
The project will remove the reversible rush-hour lanes and add one-way, protected bicycle lanes on the east and west sides of the roadway. Removal of the reversible lanes is projected to decrease crashes by about 17 percent.
The preferred design, the Concept C, was submitted by the Connecticut Avenue Reversible Operations and Safety Study. The study was initiated in 2019.
