July US Trailer Orders Hit Lowest Level of 2021, FTR Reports

August 11, 2021

U.S. trailer orders in July slid some more, barely clearing 8,000 units and setting a new low point of this cycle, FTR reported.

The preliminary volume was 8,200, according to FTR, which cited trailer makers’ initial data that they will revise shortly.

A year earlier, orders were almost 19,000.

The previous low this year was about 8,600 orders in May.

Dry and refrigerated van orders remained paltry as trailer makers are booked full for 2021 and not entering orders yet for 2022, FTR reported. Vocational orders fell as well in July as fleets have most of their orders in for this year.
