Administration warns those at risk to avoid long flights, cruises

Throughout the coronavirus outbreak, the Trump administration, along with the travel industry, have insisted it’s safe to travel, as long as it’s not to anywhere the government has issued a specific travel warning or restriction. That came crashing down over the weekend.

New guidance from the CDC urges travelers, especially the elderly and anyone with compromised health, to avoid long plane trips and cruises, our Tanya Snyder and Brianna Gurciullo report. The CDC is now recommending that travelers “defer all cruise ship travel worldwide” and notes that “cruise ship passengers are at increased risk of person-to-person spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.”
