What will Trump’s budget say on infrastructure?

The Trump administration will release its fiscal 2021 budget proposal today. Here’s what we know:

The proposal includes $1 trillion for infrastructure, over the next decade, offset by savings in mandatory spending (a funding method which has been repeatedly rejected by Congress.) That’s $190 billion from 2021 to 2030 to “support major investment in infrastructure” plus a 10-year, $810 billion reauthorization. As our Brianna Gurciullo reports, the White House generally supports the surface transportation bill that Senate Environment Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) rolled out last year, S. 2302 (116), and a senior administration official said Sunday that Trump’s budget will reflect spending levels from that legislation. The budget will also set aside money for nationally significant projects.
