What Congress can do to help coronavirus on cruises

The cruise industry has been under scrutiny as the coronavirus crisis deepens, with thousands of passengers aboard Princess Cruises ship currently waiting off California potentially exposed, following more than 700 cases on a separate ship which was quarantined in Japan.

At least one member of Congress has been sounding the alarm about medical conditions on those ships for years, our Tanya Snyder reports. Rep. Doris Matsui (D-Calif.), who has repeatedly introduced a bill, H.R. 5096 (116), aiming to protect cruise passengers, told POLITICO Thursday that coronavirus is a “test” for the cruise lines.
