Louisiana Flooding Affects Freight Movement in State

With parts of Louisiana getting between 2 and 3 feet of rain over the last three days, more than 280 flooded state roads were closed to traffic on Aug. 15, affecting freight movement.

Saia Inc., No. 25 on Transport Topics’ Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in the U.S. and Canada, shut down its terminal in Baton Rouge on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16 after limiting operations in three of its other seven terminals in Louisiana on either Aug. 12 or Aug. 15.
