House leaders target late spring for infrastructure floor debate

MARK YOUR CALENDARS (BUT MAYBE USE PENCIL): House leadership has reserved floor time for an infrastructure bill and are eyeing the late spring, according to Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), a transportation-focused member of the Ways and Means Committee. Our Tanya Snyder writes that Blumenauer told reporters “the timeframe is the next 100 days” for action on infrastructure. It’s one of the first concrete signs House leadership is on board with pushing an infrastructure package as a real, early priority. Still lacking, though: Any indication from Democratic leaders in Congress that they back the specific approach of House Transportation Chairman Peter DeFazio, who is calling for a gas tax increase to fund the plan.
