Congress could make EV drivers pay

It’s starting to look like there’s agreement on at least one small source of infrastructure funding, though it wouldn’t come near filling the entire hole in the Highway Trust Fund. Sens. John Barrasso and Tom Carper, the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, respectively, appear to agree that electric vehicle drivers should pay for their road usage, which isn’t captured by the gas tax, raising the likelihood that such a policy ends up in an eventual surface transportation bill, our Tanya Snyder reports.
