Air traffic control union sues government

— Some good news for furloughed and unpaid federal transportation workers came Friday as the partial government shutdown (now the longest ever) stretched into its fourth week. TSA said it will be able to pay workers for one day of work and an extra $500 and Congress passed a bill that would ensure federal employees quickly receive back pay once the shutdown is over.

— But bad news also continued to pour out of Washington, as lawmakers spent the weekend out of state, seemingly no closer to finding a solution than they were when the stalemate started in December. Air traffic controllers, who rallied outside the Capitol last week, are now joining other federal workers in taking President Donald Trump and the government to court. And the broad effects of the shutdown are continuing to hit all modes of transportation around the country.
