U.S. infrastructure far from dean’s list

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ quadrennial “report card” on the state of U.S. infrastructure arrived Thursday — and the country again got a D+ grade. Out of 16 categories, seven — hazardous waste, inland waterways, levees, ports, rail, schools and wastewater — got higher grades than in 2013. “These improvements can be attributed to vocal leadership, thoughtful policymaking, and investments that garnered measurable results,” ASCE said.

Transit got the lowest grade (D-), and rail had the highest (B). The grades for parks and recreation, solid waste and transit dropped from 2013, while those for roads, energy, drinking water, dams, bridges and aviation stayed the same.
