Senate marks up FAA amid jet fumes

AS THE JET FUMES BURN: The Senate Commerce Committee marks up its FAA reauthorization bill (S. 1405) Thursday morning, hours before lawmakers skip town and board flights home for the July Fourth recess.

For that reason (and the way the panel typically prefers to handle markup business), we don’t expect today’s meeting to rival the 9-and-a-half-hour rager in the House. That said, lots of amendments are in the works.

Now boarding: MT is bracing for a deluge of amendments from the Democratic duo we’ve come to call Blumenarkey — Sens. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Ed Markey of Massachusetts.
